Exploring the Rise of Vegetarian Lifestyles

In this podcast I speak with Dr Alicia Shelly from the Back on Track podcast about the rise of the vegetarian diet.

I shared my background as a nutritionist and my experience working with endurance athletes too.

  • I dive deep into the benefits of a vegetarian diet and how fruits, vegetables, fiber and the micronutrients that plant-based foods contain.

  • I dispel myths around the vegetarian diet including that vegetarians can't get enough protein and that they need to consume complete proteins all of the time.

  • I also dispel myths surrounding vegetarian diets, debunking misconceptions about their inherent healthiness or purported lack of sufficient protein and essential amino acids.

  • I offer my suggestions on how to transition to a vegetarian diet which includes experimenting with new recipes, ingredients and flavours.

  • I also give some tips on how to consume more protein over the day as a vegetarian, and highlight some of the mistakes that vegetarians make with their diet.
